About Us
Beth and Mike Gillmore are young grandparents who have returned to the beautiful, lush landscapes of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Our new home is nestled in a wooded neighborhood near the Sac & Fox Trail.
Grandma Beth
Recently, Beth introduced a line of rag quilts and kits known as
Grandma Beth's Designs. Informally, Grandma Beth also writes poetry. This poem is one of the reasons she is called "Grandma Beth".
And in my world of noise and clutter
When things don’t seem to go my way
Do I stop to take just a tiny moment
And see that it is a glorious day?
Little fingers with crayons
The toys on the floor
Doors slamming and wet feet tracking
A path from door to door.
And voices that laugh
With delight and such glee
The juice on the carpet
Is now not such a tragedy.
Now I see that these angels
God has trusted me with
Have grown up into parents
With children of their own.
Where have those days gone
When a moment of quiet I did cherish
And the house now is silent
And the footprints did perish
Why, God gave me some grandchildren
To remind me of those days
To laugh and to giggle
And send many smiles my way
Yes, God did not leave me
To grow old quietly
He gave me the joy
Of an Eternal Family

Our Mission
We at The Dropped Stitch are committed to creating and delivering the finest in quilts, quilt tops, quilt blocks, quilt-making kits, quilt designs and fabric for your quilting projects.
History
In the spring of 1994, we began showing and selling at small craft fairs in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa area. Our first products were small handcrafted items including wall quilts, bears, "country" vests, and peg ornaments for Christmas, Thanksgiving and U.S. Independence Day.
Handcrafted quilts have always been prominent in our product offerings. Whether for decoration or to keep the winter cold out, each quilt receives the same attention to detail that makes them popular the world over.
We now specialize in quilts and quilt making products of all kinds. We truly sell worldwide, from Canada and the United States to Europe and Australia. Our company is small, but the products are made with the same attention to detail that helped make us popular at those craft fairs.
How are we doing?
Having a web site is relatively new for us. Yes, we have some computer literacy, but we are not graphic artists. If you have ideas about ways to make our site better, send e-mail to
